The Sea of Fertility of my life is composed of two parts. The first is the collection of recurring dreams that have surrounded me throughout the vast ocean of life, suspended like ethereal fragments of mist—visions that continually take shape, dissolve, and return. The second is the true architects of those dreams, whom I briefly introduce in the Dreamers section: the men and women whose immense tides have relentlessly crashed against the fragile fortress of my short life—a life no more enduring than a proud sandcastle, forever on the verge of collapse. For I have come to believe that only those dreams forged by the hands of uncompromising dreamers possess the power to reach those who lie asleep beneath the terrifying floodwaters.
The waves of the ocean are the dreams that rise from the depths of nothingness and come to rest at the end of the corridors of the heart. The waves of the ocean—those dreams—are perhaps the distance that separates a solitary man, stranded upon a boat in the middle of nowhere, from his homeland as it slowly falls into ruin; a homeland that grows more unattainable with each passing day. Dreams are the only sanctuary, the only shafts of light that embrace him each night, allowing him once more to walk freely and without fear upon the sacred soil of his homeland—a homeland broken, yet immeasurably ancient.
Those who, alone, not only master the waves of the ocean but dare to ride them, giving rise to an eternal and unrepeatable epic, are the true dreamers of our story. Untouched by the countless classifications devised by those who lack the power to dream and surrender instead to complacency, they reject every fabricated title placed before them. In the midst of the ocean's terrifying torrents, they establish realms founded upon entirely new ideas, whispering new stories into the ears of all who are willing to listen. This is the gathering place of the dreamers whose voices have surrounded—and profoundly shaped—my life.
